'Connection Timed Out'— how do I fix this?
If you are connecting over a local Wi-Fi network:
-
Verify that your firewall is configured correctly and is not blocking your VNC server.
-
Try connecting again.
-
If you continue to receive the error, check to make sure your iPhone is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
-
You can check the Wi-Fi network that you are currently connected to by tapping Settings > Wi-Fi from your iPhone's home screen.
Connecting from a 3G / EDGE / a different Wi-Fi network:
-
From your computer web browser, go to canyouseeme.org.
-
If you're using iTeleport Connect, your external port number is given in the log right after the Address: something.jaadudns.com
If you manually forwarded the port using the manual setup guide, your external port number is most likely 5900.
-
Enter your external port number in the What Port? box and click Check
-
If you receive an error such as Connection refused or Connection timed out, make sure any firewall or anti-virus software you have installed are configured to allow VNC connections.
If canyouseeme.org is able to see your computer, and you have used the manual setup guide, then you may have entered an incorrect hostname in the address field in iTeleport.
If canyouseeme.org is able to see your computer, and you used iTeleport Connect, then rediscovering your server should fix this problem. If this problem persists, you should uninstall iTeleport Connect, and instead use the manual setup guide.
If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us and make sure you include the iTeleport Connect log if you're using it.
